• Days of remembrance. Memorial Day, Patriot Day (September 11) and Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day honour the dead. A sale or a cheerful post on them reads badly; a quiet, respectful post, or none, is safer.
• Offers. Post on Black Friday and Cyber Monday only with a real offer. Under the FTC's Guides Against Deceptive Pricing, a "was" price must be a price you really charged, for a reasonable time.
• Event names. Some event names are trademarks that only official sponsors may use in advertising. Write "the big game" rather than the name of the football final.
• Other faiths. Easter and Christmas are listed. If your customers celebrate other holidays, add them to your own calendar.
