Questions and answers.

What people ask us most about Lychnos Ring, the AI ring you talk to, and Alkyon, the companion that flies at home. Both are in development; where something is planned rather than built, we say so.

The short answers are below. For more, read about the ring, what it does for you, what happens to your data, Alkyon, or where we are. Something missing? Write to hello@neaion.com.

Questions

What is Lychnos Ring?

An AI ring you talk to. Hold the button and speak; the first line of the answer appears on a see-through screen and the rest plays at your ear. It has its own eSIM, so after set-up it works without your phone. It is in development.

Do I need my phone?

Only to set the ring up and connect your accounts. After that the ring reaches Lychnos over its own eSIM.

Can I make phone calls with it?

Not with the first ring: its eSIM carries data, not phone calls, and it has no phone number. Planned for the second model: Lychnos placing calls for you to book or move appointments, and calls between the ring and the Lychnos app. Calls to any phone number need a number and a telecom partner; we are looking at that for a later model.

Does it work without Wi-Fi?

Yes. The ring has no Wi-Fi; it uses its own LTE-M eSIM wherever that network reaches, and Bluetooth for set-up.

How long does the battery last?

Our target is 4 to 7 days a charge. That is an estimate from the design; we will publish what we measure before we ask you for the rest of the price.

Can I wear it in the shower?

That is the plan: a ring you wear all day has to take water. Lychnos Ring is being designed with a sealed body that charges without contacts, with IP68 as the target, for hand washing, showers and rain. Swimming depends on what testing shows. We will state the measured rating, and what it allows, before you buy.

What sizes and finishes are there?

US sizes 6 to 13, in graphite, stone or midnight resin. There is no metal: it would block the radios.

Which AI does it use?

Lychnos runs on current models that we choose and test, with tools in our EU cloud for the web, your mail and your calendar. If you prefer another provider, you can plug in your own API key.

What can it do without asking me?

Only what you allow once in the app: reminders, snoozes, summaries and your morning brief. Sending, accepting, moving or deleting anything waits for your press, and paying is not something the AI can do at all.

Can it send WhatsApp messages?

No: WhatsApp's rules do not let AI assistants send messages for you. Email works from the start.

Is there a limit on talking?

No: talk as much as you like. Web searches come with a monthly allowance; when it runs out, the conversation goes on.

Is Lychnos an AI friend?

Many people will use it like one: to think out loud, ask for advice or get the day in order. It is an AI and says so; it is company for your day, not a replacement for the people in it.

Is it always listening?

No. The microphone gets power only while you hold the button: a switch in the hardware, not a setting.

Where does my voice go?

Over the ring's eSIM to our cloud in the EU, where it becomes text; the clip is deleted right after, and no voice is kept. The text of your question goes to the AI model.

What does Lychnos remember?

What you let it keep: people, plans and preferences. You can see, correct and delete its memory in the app.

Does it track sleep and health?

Not the first ring: it keeps its whole battery for conversation. Sleep, heart rate, heart rate variability, skin temperature, stress, blood oxygen and blood pressure trends are planned for the second model, as wellness insights rather than medical measurements.

Can it measure blood sugar?

No. No ring can do that reliably without a needle today, and the US FDA warns against devices that claim to. We plan to show readings from approved glucose monitors you already wear.

What does it cost?

The ring is expected at €299 with VAT, or $299 plus sales tax in the US. It needs the Lychnos plan for the assistant and mobile data: €9.99 ($9.99) a month for the first buyers in the first year; after that expected at €14.99 to €19.99 ($14.99 to $19.99).

When can I pre-order?

Not yet: pre-orders open once our terms have been reviewed. Join the free list and we will tell you first. We confirm the final price, the plan and the delivery window before anyone pays.

When does it ship?

There is no date yet, and we give none until we can keep it. We will tell you the delivery window before we ask for the rest of the price.

Will it be available outside Europe?

Pre-orders are planned in Europe and the United States, where the ring would ship only once the FCC has authorized it. Elsewhere, join the free list and we will tell you when.

What is Alkyon?

A small robot that lives at home with Lychnos: it flies on its own, folds to pass narrow doors, keeps a metre from people and lands on its dock. It is in development, comes after the ring, and is planned for Europe only for now.

Can Alkyon fly outside?

No. It is made for indoors, and its software stops it at doors to balconies and gardens.

Is it open source?

The ring's firmware, the app, the Bluetooth protocol and the connectors will be published under Apache-2.0. The payment chip's software stays closed, because the card networks require it.

Who makes it?

Rawly OÜ, a small company in Tallinn, Estonia. We design the ring, the robot, the dock, their boards and their software ourselves.
