Reminders that reach you.

Most forgotten things were written down somewhere: the reminder went off, on a phone in a bag, between twenty other notifications.

In short. Catch the thought the moment you have it, tie the reminder to the moment you can act on it, and have it arrive somewhere you will feel it, not among twenty other notifications.

Why reminders get missed

Reminders that work

  1. Catch it at once. Say it or write it the moment you think of it; a reminder you set later is a reminder you forget to set.
  2. Tie it to when you can act. Not “tomorrow”, but “at six, when I am home”. Some things are better tied to a person: “when Anna writes, tell me”.
  3. Make it something you feel. A vibration on your body is hard to miss and quiet for everyone else.
  4. Keep them few. If everything buzzes, nothing stands out. Let only people and promises interrupt you.
  5. Look ahead once a day. Two minutes in the morning with the day’s plan saves many of the surprises. A morning without scrolling.

Where a ring helps

Lychnos Ring is being built around the first three. Hold the button and say “Remind me at six to call the plumber”; at six it buzzes on your finger and shows the line on its screen, over its own eSIM, with the phone left in a bag or at home. “Tell me when Anna writes” waits for that one email and lets the rest wait for you. The buzz patterns are designed to be told apart without looking: how haptic patterns work.

It is in development; we will publish how reminders work in our tests before we ask anyone for the rest of the price. Other everyday uses: what people would use it for. And for the ideas that come while you walk: why ideas come on walks.

Questions

Is a vibration better than a sound for reminders?

Often: a vibration on your body is felt when a sound in a bag would be missed, and it disturbs nobody else. A sound works when the device is near you and the room is quiet.

Can Lychnos Ring set reminders without my phone?

That is the design: you say the reminder while you hold the button, and the ring buzzes on your finger at the time, over its own eSIM. It is in development.
