Comparison

Lychnos Ring vs Sandbar Stream.

Both rings are for your voice, and both keep the microphone off until you press. The difference is where the answer comes back, and whether the ring needs your phone.

In short. Sandbar Stream is a voice ring that works with its iPhone app and answers through your earbuds, or with a notification and a buzz. Lychnos Ring is designed to work without the phone after set-up, with answers on its own screen and speaker. Neither ships yet.

Where they agree

Both treat the microphone as something you switch on with your finger, not something that listens all day. That matters for a device you wear among other people. Both also answer without a screen in your hand: Stream with a buzz or in your earbuds, Lychnos Ring with a buzz, a line on the ring and its own speaker.

Where they differ

Sandbar Stream is built around capturing your thoughts and talking with an AI through the phone you already carry. Lychnos Ring is built to close the loop on the ring itself: you ask, the ring answers, and one press approves what it proposes, over its own mobile connection. That costs battery and needs a plan for the data; it also means you can leave the phone behind for the small things.
